Art Spirit Village

Imagination – Inspiration – Transformation

  • What is Art Spirit Village?

Art Spirit Village is a sanctuary, a state of mind that exists within all who are compelled to express themselves through art. Michael Scott’s Art Spirit Village is my own safe haven. Here, I am the Butcher, the Baker, The Candlestick Maker and I suppose I am the Mayor as well. This is where I will share my Artistic Transformation, my imagination and my art work, hoping to somehow inspire others to do the same. I invite YOU to drop in for a visit, stay for a while and come back as often as you wish (PLEASE SUBSCRIBE-It is easy and FREE). Art Spirit Village has an open door policy. It is my hope and intent that the creative world will beat a path to the doorway of Art Spirit Village. Comments, Correspondence and Guest Posts are highly encouraged as long as they support the themes of Imagination, Inspiration and Transformation.

Stepping Out Of The Box

Posted by Michael Scott on August 22, 2012

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment” ~ Emerson

We all have the necessary ingredients within our own imaginations to formulate the existence of our choosing.  Why is it then that so many of us struggle through so much of life trying be something that we are not?  For me, I suppose that it had much to do with fear of failure, fear of success and perhaps a false notion that material success is somehow on par with creative independence.  Blessings counted, I can now say that I’ve stepped out of the box.

If you find yourself trying to be something that you are not, my best advice is to surround yourself with people who thrive in their own originality.  It doesn’t take long to understand that the happiest people are those who fix their imaginations on a self defined purpose and then proceed to work tirelessly toward that end.  I hope you will take a short minute and a half to watch the artist profile that my wife and I just completed for one of the most original creatives that I personally know.  Annie Enke is an out of the box artist who makes of all things…boxes…and much more.

Looking Beyond

Moon Sliver

It is so easy to give the beauty of this world and this universe a passing glance, occasionally pausing to admire long enough to frame a pretty picture in a  camera or in the mind.  It is more difficult, yet well worth the effort to look beyond the surface, to access imagination, to search for information that is something closer to the truth.

The Renaissance Of Night Time Photography

Posted by Michael Scott on August 20, 2012

Stars Over Cuchara

Back in the old film days, I did alot of night time photography, always experimenting with very low light and very long exposures.  Upon entering the digital age, I was more than a little disappointed to learn that both of these environmental variables caused a wild and noisy pixel party that I wanted nothing to do with.  Recently, I’m learning that there are ways to overcome the paradigm shift and I feel like a kid in a camera store.  Stay tuned for more experimentation to come :)

Two questions:

1.  When was the last time you went outside on a clear night, allowing your eyes to adjust to the low light and take it all in?

2.  Do you believe that there is more to this world than this world?

Time For A Big Change

“Secret Falls” – Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell 8/10/12

“The mind is sharper and keener in seclusion and uninterrupted solitude.  No big laboratory is needed in which to think.  Originality thrives in seclusion free of outside influences beating upon us to cripple the creative mind.  Be alone, that is the secret of invention; be alone, that is when ideas are born.”   Nikola Tesla

Hopes And Dreams Are Like Mountains And Streams

Posted by Michael Scott on August 5, 2012

July Afternoon On The Purgatoire River

It might just be true that there is nothing more soothing and tranquil than to sit next to a high mountain stream on a warm summer day, to become one with the rhythm of nature.  There is a sensory renewal, a transfer of energy that takes place within me and I find that for those peaceful moments an abundance of fullness that reminds me that Anything is Possible.  The human consciousness is likened to a mountain stream.  It ebbs and flows through the seasons of life and it has the uncanny ability to re-generate from a quiet frozen drip to a powerful moving torrent, this is the absolute law of the universe.
